Richard Porto, Program Director
Richard Porto has been involved with theatre for 40 years, directing, singing and acting.  He was part of Ellen Dow’s Saturday Musical Theatre for Children in Los Angeles, CA, and Actor’s Theatre for Children in Santa Rosa, CA. He has been an active volunteer in Kaua‘i Community Players, Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre, Women in Theatre and Island School. He volunteers as a deejay on Kaua‘i’s community radio station, KKCR, hosting a jazz and a classical show as well as an afternoon talk show which features people who work with various community organizations. A retired organic farmer, Richard enjoys swimming, gardening, baking and cooking.
Stephen Williams graduated from University of the Pacific and subsequently from University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry with a DDS Degree. He founded Datastructure, a software engineering firm in San Francisco which he ran for 22 years. He completed several real estate development projects in San Francisco and is currently a realtor with Kaua‘i Tropical Properties in Hanalei.

Laurel Petterson McGraw graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on scenic design and set painting. She has worked professionally in the theater and film industries in the United States, England, and South Africa. She has designed, built, and painted sets and constructed props and set pieces for 40 years. She recently wrote the play, “Where’s Mom,” which opened The Purple Striped Honu Theater for Kids’ first season.

Peggy Ellenburg graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She is a co-founder of Island School, located in Puhi, and has been teaching there for over 36 years. She currently teaches drama to children in grades 3-12, directs two plays each year, as well as is the Director of Alumni Relations and Publications.

Sue Macklin graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in education, and earned a Masters in education from Concordia University. She currently teaches pre-school at Island School. Sue has volunteered in prop construction and as stage manager for several years for Kilauea School. She also runs the children’s education program for St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Church in Lihu‘e.

Stormy Cozad Bradley graduated from Boston University with a BA in English and American Literature and MA in Education and Early Childhood Education.  She has taught public school on the island and well as swimming for the YWCA and YMCA.  She, now, focuses her time writing.  She has two children’s books and two Kaua’i history books published.

Carol A. Peacock-Williams graduated from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, MS,  a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major (Interior Design & Fashion Merchandising) and a double minor ( Marketing from the Business school and Art from the Fine Arts Dept.)  Following a career in interior design, she is currently semi-retired. She spends her time traveling, writing and illustrating children’s books and being hosted for book signings, readings or book tours.
